Who does it happen to?

Domestic Abuse cuts across age, race, religion, culture, sexuality, disability, wealth, geography and lifestyle.

Domestic abuse happens in many different types of relationships, heterosexual, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.

Women from BME communities

It can involve other family members including children and young people.

Although men can be abused, research shows that women and children are more likely than their male partners and fathers to be harmed from domestic abuse.

One in nine is severely physically abused each year.

Two women are killed every week as a result of domestic abuse.
