Education and raising awareness project

It is felt that there is a lot of work to be done in this area to raise awareness not only on domestic abuse from Black perspective but to inform agencies and service providers about the barriers facing BME women and their children when they decide to leave a violent relationship and ask for support from outside agencies.

The aim of this project is to deliver training to statutory, voluntary and community organizations and to raise awareness on issues of domestic abuse from a Black perspective and to break down the barriers and the discrimination which exists in voluntary and statutory sectors when dealing with BME women and children.

This project also produces training packs on:

  • Domestic abuse from a black prospective
  • Violence Against Women on Issues of Forced Marriages, Honor Based Crime, and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
  • Raising awareness on Sex Trafficking and Prostitution issues.

It will monitor the need for, and then produce a range of briefing, policy documents and other resources on all aspects of domestic abuse.

This project works and liaises closely with the staff and other agencies on production and marketing of publication of other resources.
